Real Madrid are moving another player out of the squad as they reshape the left side of defence. Fran García is expected to join Real Betis in a low-fee deal, although Madrid have secured a clause that could bring them significant money later.

Fran García heading to Real Betis

Fran García is close to leaving Real Madrid and joining Real Betis. The two La Liga clubs have reached an agreement, with the Seville side set to pay around €4 million for the Spanish left-back.

The move has already been backed by reports from Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto. García has accepted Betis’ proposal, and a medical has been scheduled before the transfer is formally completed.

For the 26-year-old, this is effectively the end of his second spell at Real Madrid. He came through the club’s academy but had to rebuild his career elsewhere before returning from Rayo Vallecano in 2023. Madrid brought him back for around €5 million, hoping he could become a useful option on the left side.

That plan only partially worked. García received opportunities under Carlo Ancelotti, but his position weakened after changes on the bench. Under the newer coaching structure, he was no longer viewed as a serious candidate for regular minutes.

Real Madrid keep 50 percent of future sale

The transfer fee itself is modest, but Real Madrid have inserted an important sell-on clause. If Betis sell García in the future, half of the next transfer fee will go to Madrid.

That makes the deal more strategic than it first appears. Real are accepting a lower immediate payment, but they are keeping a major financial stake in a player who could regain value with regular football.

He leaves Real Madrid with 109 appearances, three goals and 13 assists. He never became a long-term starter at the Bernabéu, but the structure of the deal means Madrid have not completely walked away from his future value.
