Real Madrid have officially parted ways with one of their long-serving squad members. The player’s contract was due to run until 2027, but both sides agreed to end the cooperation earlier.

Ceballos leaves Real Madrid after nine years

Dani Ceballos is no longer a Real Madrid player. The Spanish midfielder has had his contract terminated by mutual agreement, despite the deal originally being valid until 30 June 2027.

The decision ends a nine-year association with the Madrid club. During that time, Ceballos made 215 appearances for Real, scoring seven goals and providing 16 assists.

His role had become increasingly limited. Last season, he was mainly used as a reserve option and also missed a significant period due to a calf injury. With Real Madrid preparing for further changes in the squad, both parties decided that a separation was the best solution.

Ceballos becomes a free agent

Ceballos said goodbye to the club with an emotional statement, describing his time at Real Madrid as one of the most important chapters of his life. He thanked the club for the chance to represent what he called the best team in the world and stressed that he was proud to have been part of a successful era.

The 29-year-old is now available as a free agent, which could make him an attractive option on the market. His next destination has not been confirmed yet, although Ajax were mentioned as a possible suitor several months ago.

For Real Madrid, the move is another step in reshaping the squad. For Ceballos, it is the end of a long and trophy-filled period at one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
