Robert Lewandowski has made his decision after several weeks of speculation. The Polish striker is ready to begin a new chapter away from European football, and the agreement is now close to being formally completed.

Lewandowski set for MLS move

Robert Lewandowski is expected to join Chicago Fire after reaching an agreement with the American club. According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is already advanced enough for his trademark “here we go” confirmation.

The 37-year-old visited the club around two weeks ago. During that trip, he inspected the training facilities and got a closer look at the city, which helped him make the final decision.

The remaining formalities should be completed soon. Lewandowski is expected to sign the necessary documents next week, with a two-year contract waiting for him.

End of speculation after Barcelona exit

Lewandowski had been a free agent after leaving FC Barcelona at the end of last season. Several possible directions were mentioned, including the Middle East, where he could have followed the path taken earlier by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Instead, the Poland captain has chosen the United States and Major League Soccer. For Chicago Fire, this would be one of the biggest transfers in the club’s history and a major commercial as well as sporting boost.

The move also gives MLS another global name at a time when the league continues to attract established stars from European football. For Lewandowski, it is a late-career transfer, but still a significant one: he remains one of the most recognisable strikers of his generation and now looks set to test himself in a completely different environment.
