Tottenham are not slowing down in the transfer market. After several completed signings, the London club are now preparing a new offer worth more than 100 million euro for one of the Premier League’s most highly rated midfielders.

Tottenham want a marquee midfield signing

Tottenham are determined to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United and are preparing a new proposal that could exceed €100 million. According to Nicolò Schira, Spurs are ready to significantly improve their previous offer after learning that Newcastle expect a much higher fee for the Italian midfielder.

The London club had already submitted an offer in the region of 75 million euro, but that was not enough to convince Newcastle. The Magpies are reportedly looking for up to 115 million euro before agreeing to sell one of their most important players.

Tottenham’s interest is part of a wider rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi. After two disappointing Premier League campaigns, the club want to return to the fight for major objectives in the 2026/2027 season. Spurs have already strengthened the squad with Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, but they now want a statement signing in midfield.

Tonali open to move but has not chosen a club

Tonali is said to be open to leaving Newcastle, although he has not yet given a final green light to any club. Tottenham are pushing hardest at this stage, but they are not alone in the race.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United are also monitoring the 26-year-old’s situation. That level of competition explains why Spurs are prepared to move aggressively and put together a club-record package.

For Tottenham, signing Tonali would be more than another squad addition. It would be a clear signal that the club are ready to spend heavily to close the gap on their Premier League rivals.

The midfielder played 53 matches last season, scoring three goals and providing seven assists. His energy, tactical discipline and experience in English football make him an attractive target for a side trying to rebuild its status near the top of the table.
