Brazil could receive a major boost ahead of its final Group C match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. After missing the opening two games of the tournament through injury, Neymar appears to be closing in on his long-awaited return.
Head coach Carlo Ancelotti has now offered the clearest indication yet that the veteran forward could soon be back in action.
Injury Keeps Neymar Sidelined
The tournament has been a frustrating one so far for Neymar.
The 34-year-old was unavailable for Brazil's matches against Morocco and Haiti due to an injury that has taken longer than expected to heal. As a result, he was left out of the matchday squad on both occasions.
His continued absence led to growing speculation over whether he would be able to play any part in the World Cup.
Ancelotti Delivers Encouraging News
Speaking on Saturday, Ancelotti revealed that Neymar's recovery is progressing well and that the forward is close to rejoining the squad.
"Neymar will train individually tomorrow. On Sunday, he will return to team training and will be included in the squad for the match against Scotland," the Brazil manager confirmed.
The update suggests the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star is on course to make his first appearance of the tournament in Brazil's upcoming group-stage fixture.
Vinicius Leading the Attack
Brazil have managed well despite Neymar's absence.
The Selecao currently sit at the top of Group C after drawing 1-1 with Morocco and defeating Haiti 3-0. Much of the attacking responsibility has fallen on Vinicius Junior, who has been outstanding in the opening matches.
The Real Madrid winger has contributed to all four of Brazil's goals at the tournament so far, establishing himself as the team's key offensive threat.
Brazil Legend Nears Another Milestone
Neymar has represented Brazil since making his senior debut in 2010 and remains one of the most accomplished players in the nation's history.
Across 128 international appearances, he has scored 79 goals and continues to play a significant role for the national team whenever fit.
If he returns against Scotland, it will provide Brazil with another world-class option as the team looks to secure top spot in Group C and build momentum ahead of the knockout rounds.
